Newton, MA, September 8, 2020 – Pagos, Inc. announces the release of SpreadsheetWeb 6.19, welcoming the addition of the 'Import from Excel file' feature that allows offline usage by updating records under an application by uploading an Excel file.

Be it for slow internet speeds or other issues with web browsers, some users simply prefer working on an Excel workbook instead of typing in values on their browsers. This, of course, allows them to run maybe some calculations on the side, and in some cases, a faster data entry experience if the issue is connectivity.

To overcome these limitations and give more flexibility to the end users, SpreadsheetWeb now features an 'Import from Excel file' ability. When used in combination with SpreadsheetWeb‘s Excel export features, it can essentially allow the end users do all their work in Excel – offline – and still utilize the database of the web application. This way, users can download the Excel template with named ranges from inside the application, enter their information, and then re-upload it into the system, with minimal interaction with the web interface.

Since this feature allows uploading an Excel workbook with matching named ranges into a SpreadsheetWeb application, it can also be used to create a new record or replace an existing one. The system then plugs in all matching values from the uploaded file into a record under the application database.

“One of the biggest advantages of converting a workbook into a web application is that you don’t have to worry about versioning anymore. You can ensure that all users are accessing the latest version of your tools. However, we understand that some users still want to work inside Excel, and we wanted to make life easier for our end users by automating the process of retrieving and uploading workbooks from their users.” says Ugur Kadakal, CEO of Pagos, and continues “We are excited to offer this kind of flexibility our customers and allow them to keep using their web applications even when they are offline.”.
